Leon was a cruel and unkind character that everybody else are against him, in fact Tipaklong who was a member of the insects, planned a revolutionary organization against them for no apparent reasons. He represents Filipinos who are pretentious. These people are those who have no stand in life, people who die with no influence or history that will be remembered. They were also voting for the one who give something they could eat or consume the same with numerous Filipinos who during elections sell their votes for a peso bill just for a temporary remedy of hungry stomachs caused primarily by poverty.
Paruparo was also another insect that represents another type of Filipino and that is someone who tends forgets her roots due to overwhelming spotlights of achievements. Ipis was also there who served as a comparison to Paruparo when speaking of beauty and color of wings.
The character of Ipis seemed to me as loser-type. Tong also met Ulang. Ulang was a lobster who mirrored lazy Filipinos. Pagong was also present which was described as silent and slow yet meticulous.
Pagong was helpful. He represents the aged Filipino who are still generous and kind to everybody. He was also a character that exudes animalistic and primitive character.

The animals, from the insects to the large predators, all represent classes of Filipino people, from the ignorant and powerless poor to the exploitative elite.
One of the most notable spectacles to occur in the story was when the prey animals A children's book for adults. One of the most notable spectacles to occur in the story was when the prey animals and our protagonist Tong were trying to reach the banana blossom, which could grant any wish once and solve everyone's problem; a symbol of power. To reach it, they all had to stack themselves to the height of the tree and allow the topmost animal to pick it.
It started well enough with every animal willingly lifting up his brethren. But the closer they got, the more each wanted it for themselves. First the rabbit climbed up to pick it, then the turtle, then the dog; until eventually this cooperative effort devolved into some absurd game where every animal strove to climb over his own brethren and in so doing ensured no one would reach the blossom despite being so close to it.
It would have been so much funnier if it had not portrayed real life so accurately. One can see very clearly how this entire story could have been an essay instead, but it would not have been so powerful as the reader recognizing himself and his countrymen in the jungle. Alamat ng Gubat tells the story of Tong, and his quest to find a cure for his father's sickness, and that is the banana heart Puso ng Saging. Sounds like your feel-good children's fantasy story just by looking at its cover, right? But the good thing about this book is that it depicts the society that we have right now. Ang gubat ay an This is my very first review about a book I've read.
Matsing's character was a revelation. He's somewhat "tuso" at the very beginning, but he delivered the book's message.
This perfectly describes the way our politicians run our country. No wonder why our government isn't finding a solution to erradicate poverty.
